Luciano Martinez is a multi-disciplinary visual artist and branding designer born from Mexican immigrants and raised on a small ranch in southern Texas. His artwork ranges from illustrations in charcoal, graphite, and sanguine to art installations and wall murals. In design, Luciano’s craft leans towards modern and contemporary design with bold imagery and classic typographical execution.
Luciano graduated from the Art Center College of Design in branding experience with a focus on conceptual and graphic design. Throughout his career, Luciano has worked his illustrations into his designs creating a distinctive style which has honored him a 2009 Gold Moonbeam Award and a 2009 International Latino Book Award for “Fun With ABCs Loteria Style” and a 2017 Purple Dragonfly Book Award and 2017 Pinnacle Award for his work on “My Super Cool Friends” and “The Art Of The Memory.” The three bilingual children’s books were published by Lectura Books in Pasadena, California.
When he is not exhibiting in galleries or working on branding projects, Luciano teaches workshops at art institutions such as ArtworxLA and has contributed articles to Catapult Magazine, Create & Inspire, We Choose Art, and Organizing For Change. Luciano is currently working on his personal project, the contemporary arts magazine titled BloPop. The pop surrealism magazine is on its third issue and will be released for “print on demand” on late fall of 2017.
Luciano has worked with such brands as Redbull Energy Drinks, Paper Culture, Lectura Books, Urban Decay, Colgate, My Friends Love Me, The Bellevue Collection, Orfeo, and has collaborated with design companies such as Maddocks and Co., The Voyager Group, Ad*itive Advertising, Disney's Research and Development Lab, Mousetrappe, and The Bezark Company.
